If you are interested in adopting a dog from Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue, please carefully read our qualifications for adoption. Your application cannot be approved if it is missing critical information. In order to help cover expenses incurred, we ask for a minimum $10 donation to process your application. For your convenience, you may use PayPal or you can send a check to ABTR. Please mark it "Application Fee for (Your Name)."
All ABTR dogs are fully vetted at the time of adoption, have been spayed or neutered, unless age or health prohibits, and have been treated for any current health issues. ABTR's adoption fee varies by dog and goes to cover some of the cost of vetting our rescues. Puppies 12 weeks to 6 months - $400. 6 months to 1 year - $350. 1 to 8 years - $300. 9 years and over - $250.
All homes considered for adoption must meet the following criteria: no children in the home under the age of 5 years old, all pets currently in the home must be altered, a vet reference confirming that your current pets are up to date on all vaccinations and that dogs are on a heartworm preventative. ABTR requires a home visit for all approved homes. While there is no restriction on adopting ABTR dogs to apartment homes, not all Bostons will do well in this type of environment due to their high energy level. In the case of adopters who do not have an above-ground fence available, we will consider applicants with a commitment to keep the dog under leash control when outside of the home. "Invisible" fences and unsupervised dog door use are not approved. Please feel free to discuss these issues and any other questions you may have with an ABTR volunteer.
NOTE: ABTR does not adopt to homes outside the Southeast due to logistical reasons (transportation, home visits, etc.)
If you meet the above qualifications, please continue to the

on 2009-01-24 10:25:32 We really want a Boston Terrier in our home as a companion for our son. Why do you have the child restriction though? I am confused. I want my son to grow up with a dog and he is almost 3. Why that rule???

on 2009-10-09 09:00:49 I'm extremely interested in adopting little miss Lola. How is she around other dogs? I already have a boston, Yoshi. He's 19 lbs and nothing but a giant ball of love to give. His best friend is a mini daschund that's only 6 lbs. Please contact me for more information on her. I live in Mobile, Alabama.

on 2010-02-24 18:36:53 I have a brindle and white adult male boston terrier I can no longer keep. I tried sending emails to the contacts listed for FL, but I have gotten no response. I live in Navarre, FL. I can keep him until a new home can be found for him. He is about 3 or 4 years old, I got him from an older man who had cancer and has since passed away, but that's how old he told me Luke was. He's deaf, but he knows some hand signals. So I guess he'd be considered 'special needs'. Other than that he is completely healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, current with frontline/heartguard, neutered, and microchipped. He is completely house broken. He's VERY quiet, aside from the usual grunts and snores. He's very good with other dogs and children. Not sure about cats, he's never been around them as far as I know. I have never crated him when I leave because he doesn't tear things up or go to the bathroom in the house, but I'm sure he'd be fine in a crate for a reasonable amount of time. Please contact me if you can help me find him a new home. I am not asking for any money for anything. All I ask is that the home he goes to will be permanent and safe for him.
