Tigger ("Tig") is a very wonderful Boston Terrier in need of a home. Tigger is 6 years old, weighs 24 pounds, and is a beautiful dog who is fit and healthy. He is very sensitive-natured, loving, and alert.
Tigger was an owner release to a Georgia shelter. He had seizures last year and the vet required periodic blood tests to make sure his medication was appropriate. It was when the most recent test was scheduled that he was abandoned. Tigger has now had all vet work (via ABTR) and is doing just fine, with inexpensive phenobarbitol to be given twice a day. Tigger tested HW negative and has been neutered and shots are up to date.
Tigger was obviously doted on in the past and is a perfect house pet. A couch potato. He is housebroken; does not tear things up; has great interest in everything; gnaws on a giant Flintstone nylabone; sleeps with no fussing through the night in a crate in the bedroom with his dog-siblings in their own crates. Otherwise, he does not like a crate much -- he doesn't make a fuss if there is nobody at home and can stay in a designated area while you're out. He was clearly traumatized at being dumped at a shelter by his owner without his bed and toys, and suffered acute anxiety when he found himself there without a friend. He feels much better now.
Tigger enjoys having a large crate at night because he likes to stretch around while he rests and needs the space to loll in ease. He likes to "nest" when he gets ready to go to sleep.
Tigger likes riding in the car and long leash walks. He minds very well on a leash and doesn't pull. He does not react to other dogs barking at him, to passing vehicles, or to cats or a possum that he met at the vet's office. When dogs bark at him, he just stands there and thinks about it, like "what do they want from me?" He is gentle, not aggressive, wants belly rubs, wants to be held and carried and bathed, and seems to like the harness being put on and taken off. He's a good eater and responds well to treats. Loving human contact and kind words are what he thrives on.
Tigger can sit, lie down, and "say his prayers" for a treat. We think he has potential for lots more tricks, but that is what we know for now. He is very fit and long-legged, and might do well with agility training. He really seems more like a 2 or 3 year old dog, with a sweet spirit.
ABTR says no to small children for Tigger simply because occasionally he gets a happy urge and races around the house, so might knock a small child over without meaning to. (Basically, he is not hyper, just gets excited every now and then, then settles back down into his favorite chair.)
We love this boy.

on 2010-08-02 10:57:32 i love bostons....i had one for 12 years that died of old age, and my second was stolen from the baby sitters balcony back in april. i had him 7 years. both were rescued from starving to death and i thought i had found another one from Sanctuary Animal Rescue of ALabaster last weekend, but she got adopted saturday. i have just prayed about it, because God has sent me two absolutely wonderful bostons, and i know He has the perfect one picked out for me again. i am a very responsible pet owner, taking them to the beach with me, wearing life jackets, riding in kayaks, lots of toys and treats. i had to have down time after losing my 2nd one and pretty much knowing now, that i will never see him again. Now, 4 months later, i am ready to get one.....if this one is not the perfect one for me, please look for one for me. i like the older dogs, house broken, not too hyper, but still loves to play. i love to snuggle with them and they have all slept in the bed iwth me. I am an elementary librarian, i have been at my job for 16years.
