Emma Leigh

Emma Leigh has come such a long way!!  Look at the pics when she came into ABTR and you can see she's such a changed dog:  physically and emotionally.  She was found wandering the streets and turned into a shelter; then ABTR took her in, gave her immediate medical attention, food, a warm bed, and lots of love.  She had mange, a bad skin infection, and was starving.  Her latest skin scrape was negative and she should get one more to be sure her mange is completely gone.  She is still getting her shots and needs to be spayed.  Emma Leigh is crate trained and working on her potty training.  She gets along with other dogs and is curious about cats; she has also been fine around young children.

This sweet little girl's personality is starting to come through.  She's loves to give kisses, is curious, and has a surprisingly deep bark for such a little girl.  Emma Leigh is the kind of pup that will win your heart over by her cute, playful personality, and her wagging tail.  She has a long tail for a Boston and it's precious to see her wag it.  Emma Leigh is a happy and spunky pup and she's lots of fun!  The timidness she's overcoming makes her even more adorable.  Even if you are not able to adopt Emma Leigh, please note how much ABTR does for its foster pups and consider making a donation to help support this organization that saves dogs like Emma Leigh.  We need your help!

BEFORE PICS

Emma Leigh is a precious 6 month old Boston mix who was found walking down a busy street in Georgia.  Clearly she had been dumped by her owner!  As you can see from her pictures she is literally eaten up with demodex mange - an all to common condition we see in Boston rescue today.  Demodex mange is genetic and passed through the mother dog through bad breeding practices.  It attacks puppies under the age of two and is fatal if not treated.  Emma Leigh's body is also covered with secondary infections due to lack of treatment.  She will remain in our care until healed.  She is still a baby and like all puppies needs loves and attention. One day Emma Leigh will be a healthy, beautiful girl!

I want to cry looking at her. Thank you, Karen, for loving this sweet little angel. Okay, now I'm crying. If I can help in any way, please let me know. You are a wonderful person, and I am blessed to know you. Please give Emma Leigh a kiss from me.

What a cutie pie. My heart broke as I read about every one of the precious fur-babies. I would love to be able to take in all of them!
We have a 22 month old male BT, and a 9 y/o, Spanky and Sassy. We lost our 12 y/p old to Cushings, even though they had religious vet visits, he has to go through Chemo and it broke our hearts when he was so sick that we had to let him go to Rainbow Bridge, We lost our 10 y/o female just a few months before him to kidney disease. Sassy is their "pup".
Our 22 month old is sooo full of energy and wants to play all of the time, but the older dog just wants him to leave he alone!
I have been trying to work on hubby to get us another one to love and for Spanky to have a playmate.
We are both at home all of the time, I am disable and he is retired, ages 62 and 64, Our dogs are our babues, spoiled rotten, We live in a small town, no places to really like for a BT or BT mix around here. Even Atlanta is too far for us to travel. Being on a fixed income doesnt help either, so all I can do is look and wish. Thank you for being such a loving person to take care of these precious gifts from God.

I am so excited and honored to be Emma Leigh's mommy and forever home! I will be picking her up the weekend of August 15th. Thank you KAren for everything you have done for Emma and for all the assistance through the adoption process. ABTR and its volunteers should be commended for the job they do and the service they provide both to the four legged and two legged communities!
