~ Joy ~
"You've come a long way baby!" Joy came to us several months ago as an owner surrender. She was one of 3 Bostons that lived on a diet of hot dogs and butterscotch and were not allowed outside - they were paper trained only! The first time I took her walking outside, it about broke my heart to see the wonder in her eyes as she took the big world all in! Joy was extremely obese when surrendered and had lost much of the hair from her body. As you can see, Joy, is a healthy, happy girl and ready for her forever home (on flea and heartworm preventative/spayed/ up to date on shots)! She gets along with other dogs, but should be considered an alpha female. The best situation for Joy would probably be a home without other dogs (or only submissive dogs) nor small children. Since she has been in foster care, she has been blossoming - she is learning how to love and trust, how to get along with other dogs without knocking them over, and how to let the human be in charge! While she likes to play and be the very bossy girl, she is tentative about loving on people. I think that being held and loved on was not something she had experienced, but IÕve been working on that! When meeting new folks, she is quite shy, but at home she is anything but shy! Quite a ham in more ways than one - she is a very large Boston (about 35 lbs.!) with a big personality. Like Evelyn, she could use a personal trainer! If adopted in Birmingham, she has obedience classes available! If you would like to add Joy to your family, please fill out our online Adoption Application. Only homes that will not feed her hotdogs nor butterscotch candies will be considered!

Whadda Doll! This little girl came to us as a stray. She is so sweet, fun loving, and VERY feisty! She loves playing with other dogs, though I don’t think I would place her with any kitties (I haven’t tried her out with them, but I don’t want to give her a chance). She does need to have a poochly companion. While small children might not be good for her, I
think she would really enjoy playing with older children!

When she came to us, she had heartworms and a constellation of warts. She has been treated for the heartworms and is now heartworm negative. She has an occasionally cough from the scarring that heartworms sometimes leave. The cough is not too frequent and seems to only come up when she overly exerts herself. You would need to be careful that her natural exuberance doesn’t make her hack. I would strongly advise that she not be entered into the Boston Marathon. Walking and normal activities seem to be fine. She is now on a heartworm preventative. Oh, the warts have been removed (she has some small scars on her back from them and there are some shaved spots from it - she is so embarrassed!).

She is a well marked Boston and on the small to medium side. However, she is a little porkchop. She could stand to spend some time with a personal trainer! She has one blue eye, one brown eye, pigeon toes, a receding nublet of a tail, and wonderful, crooked smile.

She is a really special little girl. Might you be the special person to love her?
